![]() Having every bit of my soul being stripped away each and every day by not only my father but by four boys called The Dark Angels and their followers. Hell on earth is the only way I can describe the life I have lived. ![]() How things got to this point it's hard to say, but here I was…an orphan…with blood on my hands…literally. They had me in their tight grip now and my life depended on them. “You’re with us, now and forever.” His hot breath said against my ear sending a shiver down my spine. I was almost free, and now I would be lucky to make it another day without my life completely falling apart. Not long ago I was trying to get through my senior year and getting out of this town for good, but now I have no idea what I will do. I was eighteen and could be looking at prison time if the truth ever got out. Of course, there was no way I could tell anyone this because I would be considered and accomplice for even knowing what happened and doing nothing. My father was dead, and the man who killed him was standing right beside me this very minute. “T-thank you.” I say with a trembling breath. It also didn’t hurt that I read this via audio and Aiden Snow makes everything better.“I’m sorry to tell you this but he didn’t make it.” The doctor says offering me a sympathetic look. She posts videos of her famous brother and his teammates, and this is super shocked when the followers start flooding in? Despite that, I really enjoyed all of the side characters and am invested enough to want to see them get their respective romances. It also felt like Maya had to work for literally nothing and was able to just capitalize on her brother’s fame. He literally read like an 18y/o frat boy instead of a 30 y/o professional athlete. Noah came across as super immature to me. Tropes/Themes: -MF sports romance (Formula 1 Racing) -Professional Athlete x Influencer -Taboo (brother’s teammate and rival) -Playboy turned pining hero -Dual POV -Book #1 in an interconnected standalone series I wanted to enjoy this a lot more but I couldn’t stand the couple here. The Audiobook Narrators did an amazing job too! Not only did I love that there is actual racing within the book, but I also love the culture around, which you'll see and explore. She slowly sees the real Noah Slade and starts falling for him. □) Throttled is about an F1 race team who already has their superstar racer (Noah Slade), and they signed on his enemy as one of his new teammates (Santiago Alatorre.) Not only is there tension between the drivers as well as amazing backstory per each driver, but Santiago's sister (Maya) is also traveling with him during the race season. (I've never pre-ordered an audiobook, so this means a lot. (I'm so glad that I did!!) I'm only slightly annoyed that I can't listen to them all back to back, but the rest of the audiobooks are on my pre-order. Book one: Throttled has been on audiobook for a bit, but now seeing the preorders for the rest of the series, I gave it the green like to come off my TBR. Yes, yes, yes, yes, a million times yes!!! As a woman whose husband is very into F1 racing, NASCAR, race cars, ATVs, motocross, aka anything with an engine, this was a dream and the perfect read for me!! Lol This has been on my TBR for quite a while, but as a mostly audiobook listener, I've been patiently waiting for them to be released. Story + smut = Smutory, but the smut is goooood. I just severely disliked her reading style. ![]() And I just want to say, it wasn't her accent that was the problem. Her cadence was unusual and I felt like she chopped up sentences in weird ways and emphasized words that I wouldn't have. She was the reason I had a hard time getting into the story. Ramona Master, on the other hand, was a huge disappointment as Maya. I would love to read other stories that he's narrated just because of how talented he is at portraying the emotion of the character. He did amazing and I loved every chapter of his. The voice actors: Aiden Snow voices Noah and gets 10/5 stars. The end wrapped up beautifully with satisfactory resolutions to all of the conflicts. It took a bit for me to get into the story line but by the time the FMC and MMC got together I was swooning. I even got into the racing parts, which is something I thought I had no interest in. The story was engaging, full of dynamic characters, and a ton of anticipation and spice. The Story: This story was a little longer than I typically like but I think it worked with listening versus reading.
